Sensia are proud to announce that Stuart Fraser Wright, Senior Measurement Engineer, has been awarded the coveted award of Doctor of Philosophy granted by the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London.

Stuart’s research and doctorate thesis “laser-based measurements of liquid-liquid mixing in horizontal pipes by transverse jets” has helped further our technology development at Sensia for both new R&D projects and our existing JISKOOT JetMix pipeline mixing system. The output of which will mature to a much more efficient mixing system for our sampling and blending systems, ultimately creating efficiencies for our customers.

Imperial College London is rated amongst the world’s best universities and has an international reputation for excellence in technology and research. Stuart had the full hands-on use of a laboratory at Imperial where he designed and built his own multiphase flow loop. He then performed simultaneous measurements using laser‑based optical techniques of planar laser-induced fluorescence and particle image velocimetry to precisely measure water droplet size and distribution as well as the velocities downstream of different JISKOOT JetMix system configurations. Stuart first conducted computational fluid dynamic mixing simulations and then tested and verified these experiments in his laboratory, the results of which were remarkable.

Congratulations Stuart, from the entire Sensia team.
